Council to build 100% affordable scheme in North London

HOK’s plans for a modular housing scheme in West London have been approved

HOK has been given planning approval for a 92-home modular housing scheme in West London.

Northolt Grange will be a 100% affordable development located on a one acre site in Northolt, in the Borough of Ealing.

Designed for the local council’s wholly owned housing firm, Broadway Living, it will consist of a series of standardised stackable modular units which are intended to reduce construction time.

HOK’s London studio principal David Weatherhead said the approach provides a “new model for the delivery of high-quality, affordable and sustainable housing in London”.

The scheme will be 100% affordable

The scheme will include a 30-space carpark beneath a 700 sq m playground, connecting directly to each of the buildings’ first floor levels.

Last week, HOK submitted plans for a refurbishment of a post-war office block in the City of London which will see 2,000 sq m of commercial space added to the building’s roof.

The practice has also recently unveiled its £50m proposals to redevelop Manchester Arena.
